http://www.laughingliontraining.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Photoshop-HEATHROW-EXPRESS.jpg

In this week’s edition of Photoshop Inspiration, I’m posting some images of the superb work produced by UK company Taylor James.  The company started in 1999 and creates campaigns for print, motion and interactive media. Combining CGI, photography and post production work to produce fantastic worlds, their work is something for any creative to aspire to. Here’s some examples – not necessarily pure Photoshop work, but still...

Create A Halftone Effect In Photoshop

http://www.laughingliontraining.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/FinalMapOfWorld.jpg

Halftone effects can bring a nice tactile effect to web graphics, and a worn old school look to printed work. I’m going to show you how to create this effect in Photoshop using the Bitmap Image Mode. 1. Create a new Photoshop document with a white background, width 600 x 150 pixels. The artboard is the part of the Photoshop image window that appears when you make the viewing window larger than the image itself or that surrounds your image if you use any screen mode other than Standard. If you don’t like 50% grey as your background colour, and let’s...

Photoshop Inspiration: Christophe Huet

http://www.laughingliontraining.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Barbie6.jpg

Christophe Huet is a professional retoucher and CG specialist with great imagination. I find his work inspirational because of the skill involved, the humour and the wonderful ideas that are portrayed. Combining computer generated art and photography his work is both clever and charming, and sometimes a little scary. A feature I particularly like on Christophe’s site is the “making of” section where you can see how...

Create Triple Stroked Text Effects In Photoshop

http://www.laughingliontraining.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/photoshop-TRIPLESTROKEDTEXT-8.png

In this typography based tutorial, I’ll show you how to create the effect of a triple stroke on a piece of text. Unlike Adobe Illustrator, where you can apply multiple strokes, Photoshop only allows you to add one stroke on any particular layer. In this case, we’ll use a gradient trick to apply this effect. The good thing here is that the text remains fully editable after the effect has been applied. 1. Create a new Photoshop document...
