Photoshop Brushes: A Collection Of Faces, Heads & Heads

Ah Photoshop brush making community, I love you. Apart from the fact that you can download thousands of brushes from around the web, I love the variety that’s available. I don’t like really long lists and I very rarely write list posts (something to do with Attention Deficit Disorder on my part I think) but I just wanted to point out some Photoshop brushes I really like that fit loosely under the banner of “old heads”. I’ve used them for adding texture to images.

So in no particular order of loveliness;

New Design For Philadelphia Cheese

I love Philadelphia cheese. I could eat it till it comes out of my ears. So, it was with interest that I read on TheDieline blog about the new design of the packaging and the new tub shape.

Personally I like the new design and I don’t think it has anything to do with the fact I love the product itself. I think it’s been modernised without losing any of the brand history. I’m not too sure about the mega-glow behind the words Philadelphia Full Fat Cheese, but I do like the gradient on the swooshes. The old tub is actually looking quite clinical and sanitised in comparison.

What do you think of the new design? Good, bad, indifferent?

Inspiration: Stefan Sagmeister

Stefan Sagmeister.
For any student or practitioner of graphic design, Stefan Sagmeister must surely be a source of inspiration and maybe a little bit of awe. He certainly is for me. Born in Austria, he is known for his emotional work which covers everything from album covers for Lou Reed and Talking Heads and his famous poster for the AIGA which features typography literally etched into his body.

Photoshop Brushes Day 4: Rust

Is it possible to have too many grungy, rusty, photoshop brushes? Probably, but here’s another ten for you to play with. As before these are high resolution brushes with an average size of about 2200 pixels. They were created from photographs of rusted metal, scratches, peeling paint and splatters of rust.

Photoshop Brushes, Day 2: Arty corners

Today’s set of Photoshop brushes consist of 10 high res corners, created with pens, charcoal, ink blobs, oil paint and other art mediums. If you’re looking to grunge up your designs, these may be useful when used as an eraser or for building up layers of dirty edges.
