I was asked to create some illustrations and design the posters, corriboard signage and DL-sized leaflet to promote Howth Bioblitz 2014. Ireland’s BioBlitz brings together scientists and recorders in a race against time to see how many species can be recorded in a 24-hour biological survey of four of Ireland’s heritage sites. I am naturally drawn to anything water-based so I was really happy to be let loose with the illustrations and made an underwater scene featuring some big and small fishies, some friendly seals, an old shipwreck and a couple of worried looking divers. The “on land” part of the poster features some beasties that kids and adults will be looking out for during the Bioblitz including butterflies, snails, the red squirrel, goats and bats. These designs were aimed at families and children, rather than the professional scientists. Here are the completed corriboard (2 metres x 1 metre in size), leaflet and posters.
