I recently joined Illustrators Ireland which I’m really delighted about. When it comes to illustration I’ve been working very much in isolation so it’s great to be able to tap into the knowledge of some very experienced illustrators.

A recent new feature within Illustrator’s Ireland is the idea of the one word brief. It’s a completely open creative brief of just one word – a very brief, brief. I took part recently and the word in question was ‘Onychophagia’ – the practice of biting one’s nails. My idea was that of animals telling each other scary stories deep in the forest, in this case a mouse scaring the pants of a big old bear, a leopard and a medium sized racoon. If I’d had more time I’d have like to do a bit more with this but here we are.
