I was delighted to be involved in a recent project by the Natural History Museum to create a poster and flyers to advertise the upcoming open day at the museum. The museum, which opened in 1857 is also known as the “Dead Zoo”. Exhibits in the museum include an elephant, a polar bear, lions and a 20 metre long whale skeleton which I used to be in absolute awe of when my family brought me to the museum as a child.
Graphic design of the poster, flyers and web advertising was done by the wonderful Vermillion Design Consultants. My bit was to create an illustration of the great Irish deer. If you visit the museum you’ll see giant Irish deer skeletons at the entrance with one of the skeletons sporting an antler span of 3.5 metres. So here is the illustration:
And here’s the completed poster (not-so-great photograph by me).

The Dead Zoo open day takes place on the 14th of April from 10am to 4pm and will be well worth a visit. Finally a quick mention of thanks to Catherine and Siobhan at the National History Museum and Anne at Vermillion Design.
