Girls Own (circa 1960) Illustrations

I bought a couple of Girls Own annuals (I swear I only read it for the articles) in a charity shop a few weeks ago.I think I paid about 40 cents each for them and I absolutely love the illustrations inside. One of the books was dated 1962 but there was no information on the other one.

Each article in the book has it’s own drawings to introduce the story or factual piece, such as “How To Play Good Tennis” and each one also has it’s own lovely typography. Apart from the cover, all the illustrations are in black and white.

  • You rarely see such quality anymore these days. I like that each one has the perfect typography for the article that flows so nicely.

Could you upload a full sized page? I’d like to see how the entire piece looks.

  • The illustrations shown in this are really interesting, and tells about the times and gives a feeling of living in 1960′s.

  • Can we consider this a comic? Illustrations has a big help and it impacts the attractiveness of the book. Is there anything available regarding businesses? My sister loves to draw and make graphics through photoshop and is engaged into business. I’d like to introduce to her this book for more ideas of relevant illustrations and relate it to her business. I strongly believe this could be a big help to her.
