Illustration: Pioneer
This is an illustration I did for Illustration Friday and for self promotion purposes a couple of months ago and only submitted it recently. The topic was “Pioneer” and I based mine on the idea of an Aer Lingus air hostess. I probably should have left out the text, that’s the graphic designer in me but I suppose it explains about our national airline and its history of flying across the Atlantic between Ireland and the States. I’m thinking I should have hand lettered the text, but anyway…
It’s fair to say that the style of this illustration is heavily influenced by a few of my favourite illustrators, namely M.Sasek, Steve Mack, Bernice Myers and Linzie Hunter. I’m still trying to find my feet in terms of style, but getting there. The problem I find is I want to try everything.

I love it, it’s very retro. Have you seen the Mad Men series this girl has done, it reminds me a bit of that too!

Thanks Katherine. No I hadn’t seen those Mad Men illustrations, they are absolutely beautiful. Thanks for the link.
