If You Ever Meet A Whale – Children’s Illustration
This is a traditional poem I illustrated for an educational company. I imagined a person out in a Galway hooker (a type of boat!) on the west coast of Ireland, seeing a Whale at night. The sketches were rough to say the least but I drew it as vectors in Illustrator and then brought it into Photoshop where I added a lot of extra texture and colour.

Hah!! How cute! Love the nighttime lighting…
Brilliant illustration. Very evocative and whimsical at the same time. Did you get to illustrate more poems? I hope so.
Great work, it reminds me of a picasso painting I saw in Madrid. I can’t remember the name, maybe you know?
Thanks,
Pierre
Thanks Heather, thought it might be nice to have a sort of lonely night-time sailor meet the whale : )
Thanks Devlin. I just illustrated one poem, but I’m thinking of doing more to add to the children’s illustration portfolio.
Thanks web design Beijing, ehmmm not sure about the picasso painting your referring to, but it’s very flattering he, he!
Jennifer that is really good – i love it ! Keep it up!
Cheers Martina!
