I, Robot Cover/Poster

I’m not much of sci-fi fan but I love the book and film of I, Robot. In a little homage to both I recently designed a poster of my interpretation. It started life as a little sketch that was much more complicated than what you can see below, but I simplified it, a lot.

  • I love everything about this except the wood grain texture. It’s really distracting to see the wooden planks so clearly over the Robot.

  • Seems to me there’s some Wizard of Oz Tin Man in there, too… ;) Fun design!

  • Thanks Heather, yes indeed there are many metal-y type characters in there.

Hi Derek. Yeah I hear you on the wood grain. I have to admit I go a bit texture mental. I usually end up throwing in photos of walls, wood, stones into pictures, but maybe this could be toned down a bit. I appreciate your comment!

  • My pleasure. I follow you on twitter and have gotten plenty of great advice from you. I’m a copywriter, not a graphic designer–but more and more clients expect graphics to accompany the words.

  • That’s funny, i noticed a texture but didn’t realise it was wood grain until i read the comments. I think the only problem with it is the lines between the ‘planks’, but it didn’t put me off before i thought about it.

I love the vintage-futuristic look. Fabulous.

  • Hello!
Do you have this print for sale?

    Best Regards
