Back To Business As Usual
After a couple of weeks of frustration, I’m happy to say that Laughing Lion Design is now on a new server and is virus free. My site was hacked/injected with a virus a few weeks ago and it’s taken me a while to get everthing back to normal. Things aren’t really back to normal though. I had to get a new domain name and host because I just could not get rid of the virus on the old site. I also had difficulty getting everything off the old site without taking the virus, and getting it back up onto the new server. Anyway the crisis is over (I hope). In the future I’ll write a post about how I moved everything from one site to the other, but for now I want to forget about it.
I decided to change the look of the site too. Laughing Lion has a dark background for a few years and had an unnecessarily complicated home page. I’ve gone minimalist now and just have the blog and a random illustration (by me!) on the home page. Comments and constructive criticism are welcome!

Hi Jennifer,
Sorry to hear about the whole hacking issue, but glad you’re back up and running.
I was just wondering – is this a WordPress blog, and if so, did you have any security plugins activated? I’m starting to get paranoid that it may happen to me, like all WP users I suppose.
Which host were you with, and who now?
Am I asking too many questions?
Anyway, your site looks great. Makes a change from dark grey (which incidentally, I’m thinking of changing my background to at some point – been white for too long)…
Hi Andrew, not too many questions at all.
Yes this is wordpress. I didn’t have any security plugins on the old site. I suppose I was pretty naive and didn’t think I warranted a hack or a virus. I’ve added some plugins to this new site. Can’t remember the names of them off the top of my head, but I’ll check them and come back to you.
I was on Godaddy with the old site and this one is now on Blue host which I have a few other sites on and have been really happy with their service.
Fingers crossed that’s the end of it now anyway.
Oh, I must say I like the site redesign a lot–it was so hard to find your blog before…
Incredible how some people have no lives, isn’t it?
Thanks a million Heather. Thought it would be a good idea to simplify
Jennifer,
Sorry for the virus misfortune. I love the new site! I am in the process of revamping mine with a more simplistic design. I have always liked the nice clean white, straight line sites. Done well (as you have), they can still look very sophisticated and even fun and personal.
Thanks Brad. I’m much happier with the simplicity of this site. Think I went off on a tangent with the old one and it was messy. Let me know when you’re finished your revamp. I’d love to see it.
