Photoshop in the News

I saw an article in the Guardian today about how there have been a lot of difficulties installing Adobe CS3.

I’m due to start teaching a new course in September covering Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Flash and we’re moving to CS3, so I’m hoping there won’t be major problems. I’ll be installing the new software on 21 pcs so fingers crossed there won’t be the need to go through several reinstalls as described in the newspaper article.

Have many of you moved to CS3 and did you have any difficulties getting it going?

  • I have done several CS and CS2 to CS3 upgrades and CS3 clean installs on Windows XP platforms with no problems at all.

  • Hi Peter,

That sounds good to me! How are you finding CS3 so far?

  • I’m probably only scratching the surface as far as it’s capabilities go, but I love it.

  • I haven’t upgraded to 3 yet but I had a complete nightmare when I first put 2 on my mac it all loaded fine but photoshop seemed to constantly crash, it drove me mad. I ended up searching for fixes on google, dumped prefs etc, and it seems to have been better lately (fingers crossed).

  • Hi Tara

It’s so frustrating when the computer throws a wobbler isn’t it? I have a love/hate (often hate and want to kick it around the room) relationship with my pc. When they work properly and you get to play with great software like Photoshop and Illustrator they are quite clever though!

  • I did run into problems when I upgraded, so I gathered as much info as I could and posted it on my site (only new so it’s unlikely it’s going to help a lot of people!) but had read that article in the Guardian which made me want to put together something based on the bits and bobs I had found useful.

  • Hi Alan,

Thanks for visiting. Your post on your site was very helpful.

  • No problem Jennifer, I hope you don’t encounter any problems especially since you will be doing it on 21 computers!
