A little bit of design inspiration away from the computer
These were a couple of sites I came across while “working”. Although they have nothing to do with web or graphic or any kind of digital design, I find them inspirational. They made me want to do something or create something by hand… In the end I just made dinner but I’m still inspired.
Firstly some amazing sand scultptures at world snooper.

Next up, from the world of watermelon carving, there’s a great set of pictures on Very Bored.

Finally, take a look at the spectacular paper sculpture of Clive Stevens.

Wow, cool pics. I really like the watermelon one. I never knew people did carvings on them, some of the ones on that link are great, like the flower one that looks so symmetrical, I wonder where they done by hand.
I know, I was wondering about the flowers too, they look so perfect. My mother has this little tool that makes shapes out of stuff like tomatoes, maybe they had a jumbo version for a watermelon!
Wow – all very interesting, though I just don’t think I could do sand or watermelon art – just think of all that time spent on something that isn’t going to last!
Interesting topic.
I agree Randa. Well at least you could eat the watermelon afterwards. The sand would just have to be photographed for posterity…
