Design Resources : Vintage images and postcards
I found this site over the weekend – http://www.art-e-zine.co.uk/vintageresources.html – and it has some wonderful old photographs and postcards. I just love vintage stuff like this and the images are all free to use for personal work – great for collages.
I made the illustration below by creating a couple of brushes using the geishas girl postcards on the site, combined with a few modern brushes and a hefty dose of scanned stains.

Anyone else have some vintage image resources you’d like to share?

That’s an excellent resource – and a great demo piece too!
Hi Jo. Yeah, I really like the textures too. Like yourself, though, I definitely go for a modern clean look with my web design work, although I’ve seen some lovely retro textured websites knocking around and might go down that route if I find a willing client!
Don’t forget to put a printing press on your Christmas wish list this year!
Hi Jenny,
I may just have a chance (if I can persuade my client that is!)
I’ve just got a new job to design a site for reiki healing and shamanic drumming. I’m thinking textures and a bit of grunge. We shall see! Do you have any examples of retro sites that you’ve seen?
No problem. Good luck with the new design.
What an excellent blog, I’ve added your feed to my RSS reader.
